My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam! Today’s topic is about “One of the Beautiful Names of Allah.” And the name that I’m selecting today is Al-Mujib and Al-Mujib means “The Answerer,” the one that answered your DUA. The responsive that respond to your request. And that name should make us very happy and joyful. And we’re going to go through the detail why we should be extremely happy with that name. If Allah Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala was not Al-Mujib, there is no DUA, no supplication. If Allah is not going to respond why you’re going to make DUA, but Alhamdulilah, he’s Al-Mujib. So, he asked us to make DUA because he will answer our DUA.
And to appreciate that name, one of the Beautiful Names of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala is Al-Karim, “The Generous” and if you look at the meaning of the Al-Karim in Arabic, it says,
“The one who give in abundance.”
Gives a lot without being asked. Without being asked gives a lot. That’s Al-Karim The Generous. So, if that’s the case with Al-Karim. So, what about Al-Mujib? So, when you ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, so, what do you expect? If without asking, he’s going to give you a lot. So, what about when you ask Al-Mujib. And Al-Mujib is the one that make you, inspire you to make DUA because He wants to answer your request. So, he makes you like in the middle of something, you know, difficulty or whatever you raise your hand to say, “Ya Allah.” And Al-Mujib is waiting for you. He inspired you to raise your hand and make that request.
Some people that Allah doesn’t like, you see them, they are in misery and all of that. And they don’t even think of raising their hand and asking Al-Mujib, the thing that are going to solve that problem themselves. And, the Syedna Umer alaihi Islam (R.A). He said,
“I do not worry about my supplication being answered. I don’t worry about that. Rather, I worry about making supplication. I know that if I’m inspired by Allah to supplicate, then the answer will come with it.”
Look, how confident he is? How trusting he is in Allah. He knows that if you ask, Al-Mujib is going to answer. No way Al-Mujib will answer.
And Al-Mujib to remind us that He’s here to answer our requests. He gives us different stops in the year so we can remember Al-Mujib. So, He tells us in Ramadan, the whole month of Ramadan make DUA, I’ll answer your DUA. Laylat-ul-Qadr. In Laylat-ul-Qadr, I’ll answer your DUA. He tells us on the Day of Arafah of the Eid-ul-Azha. On that day, I answer DUA. He is just putting a lot of stops for us. Because we’re so busy with our life. We don’t even remember to raise our hand and make DUA.
So, Allah put those different stops so, we can remember, Al-Mujib is waiting for us. Remember, raise your hand ask Al-Mujib and He’s going to give you and the Prophet Alayhi Salatu Was Salam said,
“Dua, Supplication is worship.”
It’s not like worship, it is worship. And if you think about it, Dua is so powerful because when you make Dua, immediately you’re recognizing that there is Allah and He has the control of everything. He has the power for everything. And He is the one that you should go to. And not just that but think about it sometime when we do Salah, all of us. We’re not paying attention. Sometimes when we’re fasting, we’re so busy, we’re not even paying attention. Yes, we’re not eating or drinking all of that, we’re just fasting but when we make Dua, we are concentrating with something we need, we raise our hand, we’re so concentrating.
Ya, Allah, I’m sick, help me!
Ya, Allah, I’m looking for a job help me!
Ya Allah, I want a child.
We concentrate when it’s… We’re asking Al-Mujib, when we’re making DUA. We’re not busy with anything else. We’re focusing on what we want, because it’s something we badly need and the mercy of Al-Mujib, some of his mercy that He didn’t set a fixed time to answer our call. Just imagine if Allah Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala said, “Between 2:30 and 4 o’clock in the morning that’s while I accept DUA.”
Yes, every one of us, I missed it, I was asleep. Oh, I was at work. I have an emergency. But Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, Al-Mujib anytime raise your hand, you select the time, day and night, in the middle of the day, when you wake up from sleep, whatever you want, Al-Mujib is waiting for you to answer your request. And in addition, some of his mercy that Al-Mujib did not make it in order, like he didn’t say, I am number 1,000,000,242. Then it’s my turn to make Dua. No, millions and millions of people raise their hand at the same time and make Dua and Al-Mujib was listening to them, millions. It’s not that it’s his turn. It’s her turn, no. Al-Mujib, you’re not taking away my time. I’m not taking away your time. Al-Mujib was waiting for all of us. The whole creation is waiting for them, even the animals, the birds, and all of that, they ask Al-Mujib for Rizq, all of them.
And when you look at the Quran, Al-Mujib gives us some examples of Al-Mujib of his power. When you look at Syedna Abraham. Syedna Abraham took his wife, Hajar and his baby Ismael (R.A) Allah and took all of them and took them to where the Kaaba is built. At the time. It was in the middle of the desert, no life, no human being, not even a bird, not even snakes, nothing, just empty, dead. And Allah ordered him to leave them there. But before he left, he raised his hand to Al-Mujib and he said,
“Oh Allah, sent to them people that would bring to them Rizq and make that place, a peaceful place.”
Al-Mujib answered. Look at how many people goes to Hajj every year, 5 million, they go to Hajj. Al-Mujib, it’s a miracle, if you think about it, it’s impossible. A middle of the desert, just try that today. Go in the middle of the Sahara desert and say, “I want people together here.” You’re not going to get five people. But Al-Mujib sending millions every year and everybody wants to live in in Mecca.
And then you look at Zakariya (A.S) one of the prophets. He is the one who raised a Syeda Maryam, Mary (A.S). And he was in his 90s old white hair, his back was bent. His wife was close to his age. And she couldn’t bear children, no children for her. And he raised his hand to Al-Mujib and he said,
“Oh Allah, give me a child.”
Not because he wants to have somebody to inherit. No. Because he’s worried about the message of Allah, somebody continuing the message of Allah after he dies, he raised his hand and asked Allah Al-Mujib to give him a child and Al-Mujib not only give him a child, but give him a child who became a prophet. Syedna Yahya, John (A.S)
And not only that, but Allah named him. He gave him the name of Yahya. No human being before that was called Yahya. It’s a name sent by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Al-Mujib , He gave him everything he wants. And look, you remember when we talked about Syedna Yunus, Jonah, when we talked about that he was swallowed by the whale. And he was in the belly of the whale, in the middle of the acid and all of that, he raised his hand to Al-Mujib. And then Al-Mujib got him out of his difficulty.
So, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. He’s telling us, I’m Al-Mujib. So, if I’m doing all those things that are impossible. So, do you think your problem that you have, is going to be too big for me? That you’re looking for a job, that you want more money? You want a wife, you want a child, you want a promotion? Do you think that’s going to be too big for me? Too big for Al-Mujib? That’s nothing. So, He’s giving us those example so, we can understand that, “Have confidence,” whatever problem you have, it’s nothing and Al-Mujib will solve it for you. But go to him, so he can solve it to you.
And when we look at the name of Al-Mujib, it gave us great appreciation for other Beautiful Names of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. So, we appreciate the other name because He’s Al-Mujib. Like one of the beautiful names, His name is Al-Samia. Al-Samia means “The hearer of all.” Allah is Al-Samia. And as I said, before you have millions of people raising their hand and asking Allah, if Allah was not Al-Samia and he couldn’t hear them. And not just that, but Al-Samia, he knows my voice. He knows your voice. He knows the other person voice, when you make Dua, you don’t start by saying, “Oh Allah, I’m such and such.” You don’t say that. He knows you. He knows your voice. Just you raise your voice, you say. As a matter of fact, you don’t even need to raise your hand. You don’t even need to speak, Al-Samia can hear you, can hear your heart. So, He knows whatever you want. And because He’s Al-Samia, you don’t sit in the masjid. He’s making DUA and you tell him, hey, wait, I didn’t finish. No. Make DUA. All of us can make DUA at the same time. He’s Al-Samia and He hears everything that we say.
And He is Al-Baseer. Al-Baseer, “The seer of all,” can see everything. Because He’s Al-Baseer, when we make Dua to Al-Mujib, we don’t start by explaining our condition. Oh Allah, I went to the doctor and he said, make an X-ray and he found in X-ray, this. No, He’s Al-Baseer. All you have to do is, say, “Oh Allah cure me.” If you go to any doctor and tell him Oh, cure me, he is going to say, “From what? Tell me your symptoms. What do you have? What’s your problem?” And you’re going to spend two days and then go through 100 X-rays and CT-scan. Al-Baseer know your condition, know everything about you. When you tell Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala you say, Allah, I want a job, he is never going to tell you. What grade, what degree do you have? How many years of experience do you have? He’s Al-Baseer, He see everything. So that’s the beauty that He is Al-Baseer, that Al-Mujib will answer everything we need. We don’t have any problem with that.
And one of the important thing that you have to remember Shaitan, Satan is always paying attention to you. So, anytime you raise your hand and ask Al-Mujib, and He gives you what you asked for. Shaitan is waiting for you. The first thing he’s going to do, to distract you. He’s going to make you happy. You’re going to be excited, you’re happy, you’re thrilled. You’re saying, “Look at what’s happened, I got my promotion, I got my job, I got whatever.” You are so happy, you’re excited. Let’s go on party, let’s go and have dinner, let’s whatever. And all of that is Satan, Shaitan wants to distract you from Al-Mujib, want to distract you, want you to think about anything else. Because he doesn’t want you to know, that is a connection between you and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, he wants you to forget that, he doesn’t want you to know that. So, he answered you one time, he wants you to forget asking again. Then if you’re alone, he can attack you and control you. Shaitan. So, remember, when He answered whatever you’re asking for, remember, it’s Allah. Go back to Him, thank Him. Don’t let Shaitan distract you. Because that’s his goal. And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says in the Quran,
وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادۡعُوۡنِىۡۤ اَسۡتَجِبۡ لَـكُمۡؕ
“And your Lord says, Call upon me, make DUA to me, I will answer you.”
Just imagine Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala . Al-Mujib is inviting us to ask Him saying, please ask me, ask me, and I will answer you. He’s not saying, if it’s reasonable, I will answer you. If I like it, I will answer. He said,” I will answer you.” So, ask me.
Just imagine anybody. Do you think anybody in the company anywhere, whatever, is going to tell you, ask me. As, a matter of fact, most people hate to be asked. You tried to go and ask your boss for something. He told, you know, his assistant tell him I need a meeting. I mean, the meeting that tell him you know, he went to see the doctor, whatever. But Al-Mujib is saying, come and ask me and I will answer. So, Al-Mujib is waiting for you to ask. And we have to understand between Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and us we need mediators. We need mediators between us. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and us. Because we need somebody that tell us, what is Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala’s message and what His orders? What is He expecting from us? And Allah created those and they’re called Prophets and Messengers. But between us and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala there is no mediators, nobody between us and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala , no human being, no other creation. Nobody can help you. You can talk to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala direct, you don’t need like some other religion, you go and talk to somebody, a religious person that can do this for you or whatever. No, between us and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala , no mediators in between us. Direct.
Allah is directly talking to you and listening to you. And that’s why Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala says in the Quran,
وَ اِذَا سَاَلَكَ عِبَادِیْ عَنِّیْ فَاِنِّیْ قَرِیْبٌؕ-اُجِیْبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ اِذَا دَعَانِۙ
“And when my servant asked you concerning me, then surely I’m near. I answered the prayer of the supplicant when he calls on me.”
And if we look at the beautiful Ayah, Allah is saying, “I’m near.” So, He’s closer to us than our clothes. He is closer to us. He knows everything about us. He’s close to us. You don’t even have to talk just from your heart. Maybe, you’re embarrassed between the people, you don’t want to say something loud. Allah knows what’s in your heart. And then Allah says, “I answered the prayer of the supplicant when he calls on me.” Look at the beauty. Allah started by saying, “I’m answering it” before He’s saying, “Make the DUA.”
So He’s making a commitment to every one of his creation that I will answer you. And then he’s saying, that “Make Dua.” He didn’t say, Make Dua and I will answer, No. He said, I will answer you, just make DUA. And look at the other beauty, He’s saying the supplicant, the person who’s making the DUA. He didn’t say, that he has to be a good person. He didn’t say that. He has to be a person that do Salah, do the Zaqat, do Fasting, whatever. He didn’t say that. So, He’s saying, My door is open to all of you, if you’re a sinner, if you’re bad or whatever, I’m here. I’ll accept your DUA, I’ll accept it. Come make DUA to me. So, that’s the beauty. It’s not restricted to people who are doing good, good Muslims, all of it, whether you’re good Muslim or not, sinner or not, doesn’t matter. Al-Mujib is waiting for you. And the Prophet Alayhi Salatu Was Salam told us that
“The closer we are, to Allah is when we do prostration.”
So, when you want to make DUA, prostrate to Allah, you’re very close to him. You’re very close to Al-Mujib, if you want to make DUA. And Allah does not answer DUA from somebody who’s distracted.
So if you’re not really focusing on your DUA, Allah does not answer it. And Allah loves the person. When he’s making DUA, he’s intense, and he’s persistent. When you make DUA, you really making DUA, you really want that thing. Not only just, Oh Allah, I want a job. No, make it come out of your hearts, not your lips, make every part of your body asking for it. Allah wants that. And Allah loves persistence. Allah wants you to ask over and over. Human beings, we heard that if somebody keeps asking us over and over, say, Hey, you told me that twice, that’s enough. But Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala loves it. Because you’re coming to Him, to Allah, to Al-Mujib. So, be persistent. Ask day, night, if you want something really bad. Ask every time, when you wake up, when you’re going to sleep, when you’re eating, whatever, when you’re in your car ask Al-Mujib. Be persistent, don’t stop. And the Prophet Alayhi Salatu Was Salam said, “Whenever a Muslim supplicates Allah, He accepts his supplication or avert any similar kind of trouble from.”
So, there is two ways sometimes. Allah. Sometimes He gives you what you ask, but sometimes it’s bad for you. Sometimes it’s bad. Look, just imagine somebody who raised his hand and said, “Oh Allah, I want a job at HP.” And then you listen at HP, they laid off departments. You go to the job and next day or the next week, you’re laid off. So, Allah may not give you the job, but he may give you something else, or remove from you, some harm that could have happened to you. So, Allah, trust His wisdom, trust the wisdom of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala because He knows, we don’t. So, trust his wisdom.
In another Hadith, the Prophet Alayhi Salatu Was Salam. He said,
“The supplication of every-one of you will be granted.”
If he does not get impatient and say, for example, I supplicated my lord, but my prayer has not been granted. A lot of time, we have to understand, timing is everything. And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala only knows, what’s the best time for you. So, we should not be impatient. When we make DUA to Allah. We should not be impatient that, I want it now.
No. Allah knows when is the best time for you. Eventually, if you have a chance to look back and took a look at the whole picture and the Day of Judgment, you’re going to say, “Alhamdulillah that he didn’t give it to me at that time.” Alhamdulillah. Just imagine, if somebody in the summer raise hands and say, “Oh, Allah, I would like some rain, it’s too hot.” And then it rains. What about the 1000s of people, the farmers, who have crops and all of that, and it destroyed everything. So, Allah knows, Allah has wisdom. And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, when He doesn’t give you, it’s for your own good. And when He gives you, it’s for your own good. And when He delays it, it’s for your own good. So, trust Allah’s wisdom, don’t question it, and accept it. Because sometimes it’s delayed, but for a reason.
And I’ll tell you, the last thing I’m going to say, is the story. At the time of Syedna Musa (A.S). At his time, he used to go to the mountain and speak to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. So, next to the mountain, there was a village and on his way to the mountain, a man came and stopped him. And he said, “O Messenger of Allah, in this village, there is a tyrant, a person that’s horrible, he is making our life miserable, taking our crops, taking our animals, beating us, he is so miserable, so evil, when you go and meet Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala . Can you ask him how long this person is going to live after that?”
Syedna Musa said, I will ask Allah Insha Allah and he kept going. The wife came out and stopped him, O messenger of Allah, when you go up, that Tyrant is making our life miserable. Can you ask Allah? How long he’s going to live more this tyrant? You said, I would ask Insha Allah, kept going. The son stopped him. O messenger of Allah, when you go up, can you ask Allah well, how long this person is going to live? And he said, I will ask Him. So, Musa (A.S) went up to the mountain, spoke to Allah and came down.
When he came down, the first person who was the man, the villager stopped him and said, O Messenger of Allah, did you ask Allah about the tyrant? How long he is going to live? And Musa said, Yes, I asked Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. And He said, he’s going to live 300 more years. The man said,
لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
“There is no strength and power except with Allah.”
And he walked away said nothing. Then Musa kept going. And then the woman his wife came. Did you ask Allah? Yes. He said, “He’s going to live 300 more years.” She said,
لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
And Musa kept going, then the son found him. And he said, Did you ask Allah? And he said, “Yes.” And he said, “What did he say?” He said, “He’s going to live 300 more years.” So, the son said,
لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
The minute, the son finished.
وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
They heard scream coming out of the house of the tyrant. Screams.
So, the whole family ran to the house and Moses, Musa (A.S) ran to the house, and they were told the tyrant died. Musa (A.S) was shocked and confused. He ran back to the mountain and went up and said, “Oh Allah. I told them exactly what you told me 300 years and the man died.” Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala said, when you told the man that he’s going to live 300 years and he said,
لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
I took away 100 years from his life. When you went to the wife and the wife said,
لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
I took away another 100 years of his life. When you talk to the son, and he said,
لَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللہِ
I sent the Angel of Death immediately to take his life. Sometime, Allah delay things. If you accept them. You’re going to be more pleased with what you asked from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala.
استغفر الله لي ولكم ولسائر المسلمين واستغفره إنه هو الغفور الرحيم
